Join a Book Club at Newtonville Books
A great book store isn’t just a place to buy books; it’s also a gathering place for the community, and Netwonville Books is a great example of that. For 20 years now, this local business has served as a community hub, a place where neighbors meet to share their interest in literature, the arts, knowledge, and one another.
Mary Cotton and Jaime Clarke, the owners and operators, are accomplished writers and editors in their own right, and are invested in the social and cultural benefits of talking about books. Accordingly, several book clubs make Netwonville their home — Celebrity Book Club reads books that have been adapted into films, Friday Night Book Club discusses new critically acclaimed novels, while Sunday Salon meets to discuss non-fiction books relevant to contemporary issues. Other events include author readings and book signings, storytime events for the little ones, and pop-up events like literary bingo.
